Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. By using open-source libraries, Proton Mail can guarantee that the encryption algorithms used do not have clandestinely built-in back doors.

Proton Mail in the press:

“Proton Mail is an email system which uses end-to-end encryption, making it impossible for outside parties to monitor.” Forbes

“A new email service being developed by a group from MIT that met at CERN promises to bring secure, encrypted email to the masses and keep sensitive information away from prying eyes.” Huffington Post

Update 2: so happy to hear the swipe navigation is in the works!! I'll try to send in screenshots of the deletion issue when I get a chance. I don't think I explained it well so here is my previous view rephrased: my main issue is when I search for a sender so I can delete some emails from that specific sender, after I select several and delete them, they dont go away. it still shows them along with the other emails from that sender. (If I wanted to search the trash id open the trash)

Hi! The app schedules a deletion from our servers, so the messages disappear fully after each deletion task is performed. EDIT: We've added your vote to the existing request for supporting swipe-to-navigate in the app. Please provide us with a screenshot of what you see on your end when searching for senders at: https://proton.me/support/contact.

The latest update is rendering this app which is already full of problems useless. Instead of fixing any of the numerous issues, they added more to it. Messages are not being sent, senders are being deleted, deleted messages are being repopulated (if you can delete them at all), no notifications for new messages, and on the web version you now have to navigate through their commercials before you can even get to your mailbox.

new app is really buggy, need to hit show remote content at least twice, then sometimes while reading the email it randomly makes me do it again, and unlike what it says below show remote content, there's no option in settings to show by default. Also the swipe actions are way too sensitive, I'll be scrolling through emails and accidentally delete one. Bring back the old app or make this one work correctly.
